Series Synopses


The Insiders is a four part series, produced for HTV Wales as a co production with Channel 5, who transmitted it as a single 50 minute film called Bad Boys..



Many young criminals from Cardiff, Swansea and the Welsh valleys find themselves incarcerated in Portland Young Offenders Institution, located on an isthmus near Weymouth in Dorset. Many end up there because of drug related crimes. Encouraged and financed by the Home Office, one block, Rodney House has been set aside as a special unit modelled on the American Phoenix Scheme, to try to get these young men to come to terms with their drug addiction and thereby turn away from crime. This series follows a group of young Welsh offenders over a period of 4 months to see how they get on.
