On November 18th 1994, 12 Pre-operative Transsexuals and Transvestites gathered for an unusual weekend at a hotel in Torquay. Over three days, they were to undergo training in being a woman.

The film follows their training in setting hair, dressing the correct way, make up, speech and posture. It's almost as if we are watching events at a normal finishing school in London. But as the weekend progresses, our ladies talk about their lives and their motivation to do what they are doing.

In her first film for Channel Four, Kate Jones-Davies handles this very difficult subject with compassion and honesty.
